About me: Hello! My name is Sara Moore. I have taught elementary music at a variety of Bay City schools over the past 14 years. This year I am very happy to be teaching at Washington on Wednesday afternoons and on Thursdays and Fridays. Email is the best way to contact me as I have multiple buildings and might not be back to my voice-mail right away.
I have been married for 20 years (to Jim) and have two children, Kate 14 (Central) and Everett 12 (Immanuel Lutheran). I play the ‘cello in the Midland Symphony and enjoy reading, running, and scuba diving with my husband.
In my music classroom, students are introduced to concepts such as pitch, rhythm, timbre, form, beat, dynamics and style. Concepts are taught through singing, playing instruments, moving, listening, and evaluating a wide variety of music, in the context of its history and culture.
While reinforcing and building connections with other subjects, music remains an important manifestation of our cultural heritage and a subject in which all students can find success. Music study provides our students with opportunities to express themselves, work together towards a common goal, develop positive self-esteem and self-discipline, and foster the thinking skills and creativity so valued in the workplace.
