Hello, my name is Cathy Lyons, and I teach 3rd grade here at Washington Elementary. I have been teaching for 6 years, and I enjoy being part of the Washington family. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at SVSU. I am currently enrolled in a Masters of Arts degree program there. My husband is also a teacher in a nearby school district. In our free time we enjoy outdoor activities, live music, spending time with our families and friends, and traveling.

The students are always striving to do their personal best in our classroom. I incorporate Daily 5 and CAFÉ into our language arts instruction, as well as Write Steps. We use FASTT Math and Accelerated Reader to assist students in achieving their math facts and reading goals. We also have new science units this year, including Changes in Motion, Light and Sound, Earth, and Organisms. I look forward to a wonderful year of learning!
