About me:
     I am starting my 17^th year of teaching this year. Wow, time flies when you are having fun!!! I have taught every grade preschool- eighth grade, and am very excited to be here at Washington in full-day kindergarten. I have a bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, with a Mathematics and Early Childhood Endorsement from Central Michigan University. In addition, I received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Saginaw Valley State University. I live in Essexville with my daughter Caitlin, 13, and son, Zach, 11. I enjoy scrap- booking, reading, going out to eat, shopping, and playing bingo.

     I believe that the more engaging I make instruction, the more successful my students will be. I utilize music and movement often throughout the day to teach letters and letter sounds, counting, days of the week, months of the year and to just have fun!! Students work on reading and writing daily through the use of Write Steps & a writing journal, listening to me reading, reading beginning readers to themselves, and working on making words. Most of our math instruction takes place during Calendar and Free Choice time. Games also are used to reinforce Math concepts. We work on number recognition, counting, patterning, shapes, money, graphing, time, measurement, and weather.
